Steve:
Welcome to another episode of Galaxy Design Innovative Design Series. This morning I’m here in Upland and we are doing a home here. That a client of ours, her name is Debbie. She found us online. And she saw our work. She invited me over. She said Steve, I gotta have you do this window for me upstairs in the bedroom. So when I looked at the house. I was totally blown away with what she’s done with the house. And it was really an honor for us to do this house for her. And enrich the quality of her life. 

The window that we’re doing is upstairs. And she had already placed some window shades in there. I told her we’re going to leave those alone and we’re just going to dress the windows. Which is what we do best. 
Why don’t you follow me in so we can take a look at the house as well as I’ll show you what we’re doing on those window shades. 

So come on in and lets go ahead and do it.

So in order to dress up those window shades, I have chosen the combinatio of our french scrolls and our venetian combo including our large medallions. For this particular collection we have chosen to go ahead and use them in rusty gold color. Because of the walls being a copperish red. And then we chose to use the CLTC Crystals. 
Which is one of our best crystals out there by swarovski. These Swarovski crystal elements have lots of character and reflect the light really nicely.  And they seem to work really well in this room. 

I’m doing some stripes for the side panels. And I’m going to be doing some of our velvet which is called Pacific Copper. 

And this is the fabric I’m using. The stripe fabric is called Michelle Gold. I think these are going to go really really well in this room.

This window is 64″ in width. I like to mount the scrolls four inches away from the molding which would take it to a 72″ opening. I also have about a foot above the window which is very normal. And I’m going to be mounting the scrolls on either side four inches away from the molding, however though I always like to start from the center of the window. 

This is my favorite part of the entire job is how to go about putting the fabric onto the holdbacks. In order to do that all you have to do is simply use the same technique by holding your hand up here and working your way up. And just simply resting it onto the arms. 

So the job has just now been completed. 
It didn’t take very long to put it up. 

It was very very simple. 
This is one of our french venetian combo that was done is rusty gold color. With the colorado light topaz or the CLTC Swarovski crystals. This really enhanced the look of the room. The striped balanced out the room with the flowers in the room.

The way we dressed up the window shades also accomodated the head board that we have and the motivf that we have in the room. Our designs are very exquisite very easy to put up. 
Or if you choose to go ahead and do it yourself, like I did, it’s no problem.

So we’re going to hear from the client and see what she has to say about it.

I found Galaxy Design while I was browsing the internet and I cama across this amazing youtube video. And I knew that was the look I was going for to dress up the window shades in my spare bedroom. And so I gave Galaxy a call and they were so pleasant and they came right out to the house. I had an interesting situation because I had a Roman shade that was on the wall already and I didn’t really want to get rid of. And Galaxy was able to design around that. 

And now I have a beautiful entire wall of draperies now around that window and I was able to keep my original Roman Shade which really pleased me. It looks like it is part of the room and it has been there since day one and I am VERY Happy.

Hello everyone I’m Steve. I’m here in the Galaxy Design showroom today. And there’s a lot of you out there always calling me and asking me, Steve how do I go about cleaning my drapes? How do I maintain my hardware? Well I’m going to go ahead and answer all those questions and I’m going to give you some tips along the way.

A lot of you already have our unique crystal drapery hardware. Our goal is to show you how to maintain them and keep that shiny new look forever, just like you originally bought them.

So in order to do this its really simple. All you have to have is just simply a paper towel and some windex. Windex is a good product because it has an ammonia solution to it. There are other products out there in the world that you can use, but this is the one we would recommend. Just make sure that you simply spray onto the towel. And then avoid spraying onto the hardware. Because this will damage the draperies.
So once you have done that. Simply go ahead and wipe down the crystals. And remove all the build up.
Now as you can see, this has not only brought back the shine, but it also brought you the dazzle that will last you forever.

Steve: A lot of you have this type of window dressing, where we have wall draperies with a puddle on the floor. And they’re beautifully dressed. Sometimes you have a house cleaner that comes over and cleans the floor and they just pick up the drapes and throw the puddle as is and leave it alone.

We want to give you tips about how to go about dressing it up and making sure that it all goes back together like it originally left it with. So this is really simple and this is how you go about doing it.
All you have to do is simply go ahead and put some pleats into the drapes by holding your hands on the back of the draperies. So that you can create pleats in the draperies. Once you have done this, then you can just simply pick up the fabric and hold onto the pleats on there. And then with your other hand, roll the excess fabric under them. And then allow the fabric to come down. And then once you have done so, you can simply put your hands on the back of the drapes and go ahead and create those pleats on the back of it. One at a time, holding those pleats in place. And making sure they’re put back together.

Now what I like to do, if I have an excess of fabric, I like to just go ahead and just roll it into the stomach and onto the back of the fabric. And this will create a nice puddle as well as nice pleats. And there it is.
If you want to make it bigger, all you have to do is pull the bottom of it out. This is how simple it is. You get that original dressed look. And one thing I would recommend, is make sure you teach your housekeeper how to do it, so you don’t have to do it!

Steve: When it comes to swaging the fabrics, how to old them in place is always the question. This is one of the reasons why all of our packages come with zip locks. Zip locks seem to make things really quite easy. Once you have gathered everything up all you have to do is wrap a zip lock around it, and then just slip it over the arm. Now that I have made the swag curtains all I need to do is simply add another zip lock, create a loop between the two, and once I have done so all I do is just rest it on my holdback.

{Steve} Today we have just completed Mr. and Mrs. Nyger’s home. I have chosen to go with this treatment for them.

They were planning on having just swags and cascades put on however I decided to go ahead and do this look for them and I think it turned out quite nicely.

Adding the tassel in the center really made a huge difference. And the swags were done right here at the customer’s home. This is one of our do it yourself drapes packages that can be done in your own home without the participation of a designer.

This custom window treatment was very simple to install and the customer seems to be very pleased with it.

{Mallie} Welcome to another episode of do-it-yourself presented by Galaxy-Design.   I’m Mallie Messri, a realtor that specializes in residential home sales in the West Los Angeles area and today I’m here with Steve our top designer.

{Steve} Thank you Mallie.  We are going to go ahead and demonstrate today how to put up one of our two-piece DIY French Scroll combos. 

{Mallie}  These DIY window treatments are very stylish, innovative and tasteful.  And they are designed to dress your windows, not to cover them.  They are very easy to install and today we are going to show you just how to do that.

{Steve}  These do-it-yourself combo packages include one of our luxurious velvet draperies that are layered with a fine lining on the back.  You will also receive one of our French Scrolls that has our innovative design patent on the back of the drapery hardware. 

You will also get one of our elegant hold backs that we call our large medallion drapery hold back.  You will get the mounting bracket for the scrolls as well as the holdbacks along with the extension screw which allows you to have more than one layer of window treatments installed beneath these.  You will get color coordinated screws,  a genuine Swarovski label, as well as wonderful beautiful sketches showing all of the different design ideas you can create with this package in the future.

The DIY drapery hardware we are showing you today is embellished with Swarovski crystal elements however you may also chose to select them in broad array of custom crafted colors that you can view on our website.

These luxurious drapery panels are available in 96 inch and 120 inch finish lengths.  If you have a window that is 84 inches high, a 96 inch drapery panel would be suitable for that type of window.  If you choose to go ahead and order your own finish length, you can go ahead and visit our website to view our frequently asked questions section with will explain all the details on how to go about ordering those panels.

{Mallie}  In order to install the drapes, you will need three simple items:

1.       A drill, preferable with a hex gun drill head tip

2.       A Philips screwdriver

3.       A tape measure

{Steve} I have asked our co-designer Mallie to go ahead and show you how easy it is to put these up.  So we are going to start with our very first bracket which is called the bottom bracket of the scroll which is mounted from 4 to 6 inches away from the top corner of the window. 

Now that we have mounted the bottom bracket of the scroll, we are now going to go ahead and mount the top bracket of the scroll which is located 10 inches above the window in an angled position. 

The brackets are usually mounted 48 inches above the floor. 

{Mallie}  Our patented wire design allows easy installation of our exquisite DIY drapery panels.  To begin, simply remove the nuts on the back of the scroll and pull out the wire.  Our exquisite ready to install drapes come with a pocket already sewn in.  So all you have to do is simply slide the wire through and gather the drapery fabric to the top of the wire. 

So now that I’ve got the drape on to my patented drapery hardware wire, I’m going to place it on the back of the scroll  and take the nuts that I removed from before and screw them back on and tighten them into place.

The next step is to take your bracket and your Philips screwdriver and loosen the screw so that the extension screw comes out.  Then place it onto the back of the drapery scroll and tighten it then do the same with the other one.

OK, so now I have put everything onto the back of the scroll and mounted all of the screws.  This is what it looks like when it is done and the drapery fabric is attached and it looks great.  You might want to go ahead and adjust it a little bit so it looks nice and even and this is ready to be put up.

So now I’m ready to go ahead and mount the drapery hardware scroll onto the brackets.  I left the brackets a little loose and I will go ahead and tighten them later.  You now just go ahead and take them and slip them into the brackets and push it back.  And it’s is simple as that.

So now my drapes are up and I’m going to go ahead and create a drop.  I will show you how to do that.   You simply grab each pleat with your hand and move your hand upward.  Then you take the fabric and place it behind the drapery holdback.  Now you are going to want to organize it a little bit so it looks in order.  And that will create an amazing drop for the curtains.
