Steve:
Welcome to another episode of Galaxy Design Innovative Design Series. This morning I’m here in Upland and we are doing a home here. That a client of ours, her name is Debbie. She found us online. And she saw our work. She invited me over. She said Steve, I gotta have you do this window for me upstairs in the bedroom. So when I looked at the house. I was totally blown away with what she’s done with the house. And it was really an honor for us to do this house for her. And enrich the quality of her life.
The window that we’re doing is upstairs. And she had already placed some window shades in there. I told her we’re going to leave those alone and we’re just going to dress the windows. Which is what we do best.
Why don’t you follow me in so we can take a look at the house as well as I’ll show you what we’re doing on those window shades.
So come on in and lets go ahead and do it.
So in order to dress up those window shades, I have chosen the combinatio of our french scrolls and our venetian combo including our large medallions. For this particular collection we have chosen to go ahead and use them in rusty gold color. Because of the walls being a copperish red. And then we chose to use the CLTC Crystals.
Which is one of our best crystals out there by swarovski. These Swarovski crystal elements have lots of character and reflect the light really nicely. And they seem to work really well in this room.
I’m doing some stripes for the side panels. And I’m going to be doing some of our velvet which is called Pacific Copper.
And this is the fabric I’m using. The stripe fabric is called Michelle Gold. I think these are going to go really really well in this room.
This window is 64″ in width. I like to mount the scrolls four inches away from the molding which would take it to a 72″ opening. I also have about a foot above the window which is very normal. And I’m going to be mounting the scrolls on either side four inches away from the molding, however though I always like to start from the center of the window.
This is my favorite part of the entire job is how to go about putting the fabric onto the holdbacks. In order to do that all you have to do is simply use the same technique by holding your hand up here and working your way up. And just simply resting it onto the arms.
So the job has just now been completed.
It didn’t take very long to put it up.
It was very very simple.
This is one of our french venetian combo that was done is rusty gold color. With the colorado light topaz or the CLTC Swarovski crystals. This really enhanced the look of the room. The striped balanced out the room with the flowers in the room.
The way we dressed up the window shades also accomodated the head board that we have and the motivf that we have in the room. Our designs are very exquisite very easy to put up.
Or if you choose to go ahead and do it yourself, like I did, it’s no problem.
So we’re going to hear from the client and see what she has to say about it.

I found Galaxy Design while I was browsing the internet and I cama across this amazing youtube video. And I knew that was the look I was going for to dress up the window shades in my spare bedroom. And so I gave Galaxy a call and they were so pleasant and they came right out to the house. I had an interesting situation because I had a Roman shade that was on the wall already and I didn’t really want to get rid of. And Galaxy was able to design around that.
And now I have a beautiful entire wall of draperies now around that window and I was able to keep my original Roman Shade which really pleased me. It looks like it is part of the room and it has been there since day one and I am VERY Happy.

I decided to reach out to Galaxy Design because we needed some curtains for the venue add a little more atmosphere and texture and I was a referral through a good friend of ours. And so we talked with Galaxy Design and we felt like they were the perfect fit for the job.
Steve:
This job did require to have accurate measurements. This is why we have to come back the second time again to make sure things are going to go well. They do have some sort of dancers that are coming off the ceiling. And there’s a hook up there where we hooked up to it and we put the bars together with the extension and the center support mounting up to the ceiling since this is an opening. And it looks really great. I think the guys are doing a great job. Let’s go ahead and take a look and see what’s going on.
Steve:
Hello everyone, we’re back at Ebanos in downtown Los Angeles. Definitely the spot to be. This is one of the most entertaining places that is located right here in the heart of downtown Los Angeles and we had the honor of going ahead and taking care of this client. By providing them these beautiful draperies behind me. That are done in gorgeous red. And the idea was to go ahead and split up the room and be able to provide two spaces for them. So they can have two events going on at the same time. So we were definitely able to do that. It was kind of unique because we had to use these rods that were sustained from the ceiling and they only had two towers holding them. So we did have to come back the second time around because the client wanted the drapes to drag on the floor rather than just touching the floor. Which is of course what we would want to do is make sure our clients are 100% satisfied. I’m very pleased, my vision is exactly the way I had anticipated. And it turned out beautiful. I’d like to go ahead and hear from our clients and hear what they have to say. So let’s go ahead and find out what they have to say about it.
Steve:
So Ebanos happens to be one of the most happening places in downtown Los Angeles. I know you guys got the best place in LA, you got a lot of entertainment going on. You’ve got a lot of celebrities that come in and I understand you’ve also got a lot of shooting as well. You’re renting out the place. So how has the experience been working with us Andrew?
Drew:
Oh! It’s been fantastic! Everything from start to finish. Being able to conceptualize things and coming in as far as measurements and just being able to work with us. It’s been fantastic.
Steve:
Awesome awesome. Well its been really a pleasure for us being able to serve you. And I think we got what we were after. Definitely. I’m so glad and the colors really worked out well with the red and black. The gold would’ve been a little bit much, but I’m glad we talked out of the gold and sticked with the red. Hello everyone I’m Steve. I’m here in the Galaxy Design showroom today. And there’s a lot of you out there always calling me and asking me, Steve how do I go about cleaning my drapes? How do I maintain my hardware? Well I’m going to go ahead and answer all those questions and I’m going to give you some tips along the way.
A lot of you already have our unique crystal drapery hardware. Our goal is to show you how to maintain them and keep that shiny new look forever, just like you originally bought them.
So in order to do this its really simple. All you have to have is just simply a paper towel and some windex. Windex is a good product because it has an ammonia solution to it. There are other products out there in the world that you can use, but this is the one we would recommend. Just make sure that you simply spray onto the towel. And then avoid spraying onto the hardware. Because this will damage the draperies.
So once you have done that. Simply go ahead and wipe down the crystals. And remove all the build up.
Now as you can see, this has not only brought back the shine, but it also brought you the dazzle that will last you forever.
Steve: A lot of you have this type of window dressing, where we have wall draperies with a puddle on the floor. And they’re beautifully dressed. Sometimes you have a house cleaner that comes over and cleans the floor and they just pick up the drapes and throw the puddle as is and leave it alone.
We want to give you tips about how to go about dressing it up and making sure that it all goes back together like it originally left it with. So this is really simple and this is how you go about doing it.
All you have to do is simply go ahead and put some pleats into the drapes by holding your hands on the back of the draperies. So that you can create pleats in the draperies. Once you have done this, then you can just simply pick up the fabric and hold onto the pleats on there. And then with your other hand, roll the excess fabric under them. And then allow the fabric to come down. And then once you have done so, you can simply put your hands on the back of the drapes and go ahead and create those pleats on the back of it. One at a time, holding those pleats in place. And making sure they’re put back together.
Now what I like to do, if I have an excess of fabric, I like to just go ahead and just roll it into the stomach and onto the back of the fabric. And this will create a nice puddle as well as nice pleats. And there it is.
If you want to make it bigger, all you have to do is pull the bottom of it out. This is how simple it is. You get that original dressed look. And one thing I would recommend, is make sure you teach your housekeeper how to do it, so you don’t have to do it!

Drapery Hardware for Picture Windows
Need some ideas for that big picture window in your living room?
This post is all about showing you some simple ideas on how you can make a big splash with your picture window treatments by using a simple 5-piece drapery hardware combo.
First things first, what is a drapery hardware combo? A drapery hardware combo is simply a combination of drapery hardware elements that are put together to form a complete window treatment.
In this post we will take a look at 5-piece combos which consist of a crown, two drapery hardware scrolls and two drapery hardware holdbacks. The crown sits at the top of the window and each side of the window will have a scroll and holdback each.
Here’s what the combos look like when they are installed:
This is the French Shell 5-piece combo from Galaxy-Design dressing up this living room window. Notice how the crown is on top and the scrolls and holdbacks border each side of the picture window.

So we had an amazing start to the week on Monday.
We had a company meeting and I had a client that came in from Vegas and I was just sitting with a client and suddenly the store gets filled up with customers. We had customers from Vegas, from the bay area, we had customers from Glendale and web orders all at the same time.
But you want to know something? My team is amazing! Amazing, amazing, amazing.
So tell me what was it for you guys like?
Mallie:
For me, I’m ususally in the background doing the phone calls so it got so busy that I had to step on the floor.
And I’m learing a lot. It was amazing to have Darline come in after her lunch and save the day. So I sold a few products and I’m really happy to have these people to back me up.
Darline:
Yeah I’m glad to have been able to help you Mallie.
But yeah I was out on break and it got overwhelmed here at the shop. I’m glad I came in and yeah it was a beautiful morning for me. I sold a job from Florida. It was really great yeah.
Steve:
Florida here we go!

And yeah it did get busy today. We helped everybody, we got great reviews and we’ll get reviews on yelp. Customer service is excellent and we’re very proud.

Welcome to another episode of Galaxy Design Innovative Design Series. We’re here in Claremont today. And we have our crew with us, this beautiful home behind us here.
We plan on doing several windows and we’re going to have this house completely transformed today.
So follow us in, we’re going to go ahead and get started.
Steve:
Good morning. Good morning sweetheart. How are you?
Don’t worry about anything. We’ll take care of it all.
So I’m in the living room now and my plan is to dress up the whole living room, dining room area. There are five windows around us that we’re working with today.
The windows on my right are arch windows. I’m planning on keeping the arch look and there’s a lot of sun that comes through these windows, my plan is to keep the heat out as well as the sun and protect the furniture. My plan is to just dress the place up and really give it that wow look. That’s my plan for this job.
This room has several windows all in a very confined area. So I chose to go ahead and do different designs for different windows, but all with the same fabrics. This works really well when you have a lot of windows and you don’t want to have the same design over and over again. I have also chosen our Leo crystal holdbacks. These crystals are some of the finest crystals that we offer. It’s our light colorado topaz. And our client did not want too much crystal, but we wanted to add a little dazzle into the room and so I chose these crystal holdbacks only to go on the sides.
Steve:
The job turned out really really stunning. I can say that this is one of our better jobs that we have done. As far as the colors and the designs. The room has been transformed even having five different windows in the room, we were able to do five different designs. And they all work together. I’m very pleased with the way the job turned out. Steve: So we’re now in the bedroom. We chose to go with our venetian three piece combo and the difference is that this particular combo does not allow you to do a double swag. We chose this color because Gladys wanted to do something very simple. I have chosen to have the colors to stay the same throughout the whole house. Their room is very monochromatic with the exception of the art behind me. I’m going to go ahead and do this for her and we’re going to see how its going to turn out.
So we have completed the bedroom as you can see it turned out quite nicely, very simple, very elegant. I’m very pleased with the way it turned out.
