So the guys have went ahead and put up the drapes, now we are just going to go ahead and put up the swags.

This is the part that I like to illustrate for you, and how to go about of doing that. This usually takes two people to go about doing it.

One person hold the other end of the fabric, and I’m going to go ahead and work my way up from the bottom… towards the center of the fabric. In this particular case I have chosen to go ahead and get the client one and a half widths of fabric, simply because I wanted to have deep swags.

What you have to do is just simply have the other person hold the other end, and then you just work your way up towards the center.

Just simply put pleats inside the fabric and working your way up. Once you have it up like this, than what you want to do is pull the pleats out, and then I usually like to go ahead and use one of our zip locks that come with our packages, and use this to hold the pleats in place.

I will not over tighten the zip lock because I will need to adjust the pleats. Once I’m done with that all I have to do is just rest it on the back of the peg that’s on the back of the scroll. And when I have done that on both swags, all I’m going to do is just simply run another zip lock between the two zip locks and have them meet in the middle. This will bring them together, and all I do is just simply rest it up there, and then I’m going to go ahead and dress up the swags.

To do this is really simple, make sure you grab the pleat from the very end, and then in the center and then create a crease. As well as the other end you are going to do the same thing by just holding from both ends and creating creases in between. This will allow you to go ahead and create nice deep pleats inside of these swags.

{Mallie} So welcome back to another episode of Galaxy-Design’s innovative design series. We are here today in Ladera Ranch.

{Steve} Yes, Daphne came into our showroom last week and she brought some pictures with her. She said she had some window treatments up and she wants to keep most of them, however she wants to take some of the window coverings out and bring it up to date.

Our goal is to go in and find out what we can do to take this place and bring it up to date and also enhance the quality of her life today.

Good to see you again. This is Mallie. Mallie is a co-designer and realtor and she will be assisting us today.

{Mallie} Your house is beautiful. I love the high ceilings. I see that what you’ve done is already beautiful as it is but tell me in your own words what you envision it to look like after we are done.
Do you want it to be elegant, soft, modern, give me a feel for what you want.

{Mrs. Turner} Well I’m going for a softer look. More of a straight line. The room is formal but not so I am kind of wanting to take the formality out of the room and make it dressy but casual. And more intimate.

{Mallie} Sounds good. And how do you feel? Are you aligned with that? Are you on the same page?
{Mr. Turner} I’m slowly getting there.

{Mrs. Turner} I like the cloud.

{Mallie} Yeah, I think it is really soft. And it’s not outstandingly white where it’s so bright.

{Steve} I like this one, I think it’s kind of clean. Sounds like we might have found something.

{Mrs. Turner} I like what you’ve found.

{Steve} OK, so we are going to take off the top of the window treatment and go ahead and take all of this stuff down. All this stuff is going to come down. We are going to take all of the drapes down, the shears, really bring the place up to date and spruce it up.

And I think that is a good move. We can start with this and we will leave that top part because that will bring the light into the room.

{Mrs. Turner} Yes, I think that’s going to be great.

{Mallie} So we are back at Daphne’s house and we put up the blinds about a week ago and she liked it a lot. She likes more of an airy feeling to the home more of an open feeling. Andrew on the other hand…

{Steve} He’s much more traditional. He likes things more orderly and a little bit more covered up so the plan is to go ahead and see what we can do to meet up between them and see if we can get them to agree on one design.

{Mrs. Turner} I like the open clean look.

{Mallie} I think if you put some light shears it will do both. It will still be light and airy in here, you will still have light and you will cover it up.

{Mr. Turner} Can you get something like a brushed aluminum or a rose that captures that and plays into this design?

{Steve} Daphne likes this. So this looks good against the blue as well and against that silver it would look really nice and it will stand out.

{Mallie} So Daphne, we started off in your living room and now we ended up in your family room. You decided to choose this room because it was a little easier to work on.

We started off with the valance boxes, the big blue boxes and the heavy, heavy curtains here and in your kitchen. Which is more of Andrew’s style. It is more extravagant more traditional style and you are definitely more of a calm subtle really collected style. You like straight lines on everything.

So you guys actually had differences but you did come to a conclusion. You went with the simple silver drapery hardware and some simple curtain swags that really brought out the design of the room.
How did you come to that conclusion?

{Mrs. Turner} What we learned was that we didn’t have as much in common as far as our décor tastes as we thought we did. So we decided that we would meet in the middle of the road. He would get some fabric and I would get my blinds and we would be fine.

{Steve} How was the experience for you from the beginning to the end?

{Mrs. Turner} It was good. It started out a little challenging like I said when I realized our tastes were different I became a little nervous because I had everything taken off of the windows and I was a little shell shocked. Actually Andrew was a little more shell shocked than I was.

But the way you guys came in and coached us and held us by our hand and you assured us that you would not leave us until we were satisfied. From the beginning to the end it was quite an experience. I would not recommend anyone doing this on their own.

{Steve} You know, the room actually looks phenomenal.

{Mrs. Turner} Yes it does and it really did soften it up and add some character to it. The way I had it was a little bare. So it added some character to it now.

{Steve} So what would you recommend?

{Mrs. Turner} Making sure you have a reputable consultant that has passion about what they do so they can guide you through the process. Otherwise we could have been fighting if it hadn’t been for you guys. So you guys kind of kept the peace.

{Mallie} I really appreciate you allowing us to come to that final decision that you and Andrew agreed on and you really allowed us to fulfil on our mission which is to enhance the quality of life.

{Mrs. Turner} You guys have done that. I can honestly say that. You guys were great to work with.

(ANAT) Today we are here in diamond bar California, Were here to visit one of our clients who was recommended by a previous client to help create a Curtains & Valence window treatments.
(STEVE) Thanks Anat, yeah the house looks quite beautiful on the inside as well as the outside, we have some arch windows that we are planning on dressing up today with crystal drapery hardware pieces embellished with Swarovski crystal elements. These are somewhat challenging because they are extra long curtains however though we think we came up with a design that we think is going to look really, really beautiful as we create these exquisite window treatments with the use of Swarovski crystal elements. (ANAT) It sounds so exciting, I can’t wait to see it !
(STEVE) Hi Dr. Wilson!
(ANAT) Hi Mr. Wilson, How are you? (Dr. Wilson) Good, Good. How are you? (STEVE) I’m great (STEVE) So what I think we ought to do I think we ought to start over here on this side and put the Swarovski element embellished French scrolls down and then we will go ahead and do the second scroll over the second window.. I think we’re good what do you guys think?
(ANAT) I think lets go ahead and create these window coverings.
(STEVE) What do you think? Sounds like a plan right?
(HECTOR) Yes!
(ANAT) So the job has gotten started the guys are working on the curtain designs right now, they are preparing the window dressing by mounting the drapery hardware and what we are creating are, me and Steve are demonstrating the scarf swag and/or scarf valance
(STEVE) Yeah we started doing the scarf swags, we started putting them on the wires and we started scarfing them now and they look really really nice. I’m planning on having seven pleats coming out of this and it looks very nice so far.
(STEVE) So I’d like to go ahead and show you what we we’ve done with your new designer curtains, why don’t we go ahead and look at it and see what the guys have put up.
(Mrs. Wilson) WOW, that’s gorgeous, oh my goodness… that’s beautiful, (oooh) (Friend) Look at it with all the Swarovski crystals up there
(Mrs. Wilson) I know it’s just absolutely stunning!
(ANAT) Dr. Wilson I want to start by acknowledging you and telling you thank you for having us at your house today and by giving us the opportunity to create exquisite window treatments for you… number 1 is how did you find us?
(Mrs. Wilson) Um, I found you through a friend of mine, and you guys did work for her. Then when you guys came here and I saw the types of Swarovski elements and ornaments you use and the drapes and fabrics, I just have never seen anything like it. Everything just went totally well and I’m very pleased and I can’t believe how gorgeous they are. Beautiful everything is beautiful.
(ANAT) So would you recommend us to friends and family?
(Mrs. Wilson) Absolutely, absolutely, and your mission is accomplished, because everything is just fabulous. I can’t express it enough it’s just beautiful..

Do it Yourself Curtains and Drapes: Custom Window Treatments with Crowns, Holdbacks, and Sheer Curtains

There’s no doubt that every homeowner starts out with a whole lot of questions, especially at the beginning of the do it yourself curtains and drapes process. The problem is, without the right answers, most homeowners throw up their hands and just give up. Luckily for you, here is the video every homeowner needs to see so you can find the success you’re looking for.

Do it Yourself Curtains and Drapes: Custom Window Treatments with Crowns, Holdbacks, and Sheer Curtains

Hi this is Steve and we are here at the Galaxy-Design showroom and my goal is to go ahead and demonstrate for you how to put up one of our French Shell Combo do it yourself curtains and drapes combos.

This is one of the many DIY designs we offer for curtains online. These DIY combo packages are complete, stand alone, custom drapery kits. They include a pair of draperies, the valances, all of the hardware and they are available with or without the Swarovski crystal embellishments. Now I’m going to show you how to put one up, step-by-step.

What you will receive in our combo packages is:
1. One of our crowns that comes with a peg on the back of it.
2. You will also receive two of our holdbacks.
3. Mounting brackets
4. Color screws
5. French scrolls
6. Design Illustrations
7. A Crystal kit
8. Zip locks

You will have all the tools necessary to install your very own custom window treatments and if you have any questions, you can find answers on our website.

These custom curtain designs combos are also good for:
Bedroom curtains
Blackout curtains
Kitchen curtains
Window coverings
Window curtains
Window treatments
Curtains and blinds
Curtains and valances
Valance

Our innovative drapery scroll design comes with two wires on the back. These wires are used for your draperies as well as your valances. All you have to do is loosen up the nuts, pull the wires out.

Now you are looking at the mounting brackets. The mounting brackets come with the extension screws inside of them. This allows you to have more than one layer of window treatments on your windows. All you have to do is simply use a screwdriver to loosen the screw on this side and pull out the extension and place it on the back of the scroll. Then slip the holdback bracket back onto the scroll. Just leave them loose for the time being, do not over tighten them.

Next we will show you how to put up the scrolls. To do this you need a Philips screwdriver, tape measure, and a drill with a hex-head driver attachment at the end.

Now I have asked my assistant to come in and help me put up this window treatment. This window treatment that we are working is for a six foot opening with ten feet from floor to ceiling. I’m now going to ask Hector to begin mounting the bracket for us so we can see what measurements we need as we are putting them up.

Your first bracket will be mounted in alignment with the top of the window and four inches from the side of the window. That’s where your first bracket will be mounted. I usually like to recommend that you leave those brackets loose simply because you will be able to sleeve the scrolls in there much easier this way.

The second bracket for the scrolls will be placed at 10 inches above the window and 12 inches into the window.

For this particular demonstration we are going to go ahead and do some sheer curtains so we will use a drop-in bracket for the sheers. If you order your sheer curtains through us, this drop-in bracket will be included.

This drop-in bracket will be place right next to the first bracket. Four inches to the left and right on the inside of it.

Now that we have the arms up, we are going to go ahead and bring the drapes in and slip the scrolls onto the brackets.

Now I’m slipping the fabric right on to the first wire. Once I’ve done that I’m going to go ahead and place it back over the scrolls. Once I’ve placed them back on, I’m going to securer them with the nuts so that they don’t fall out.

All Hector does now is simply slips the scrolls onto the brackets.

We have now gone ahead and put up the drapes and the valances and the scrolls are up. Now I am going to create a swag by pulling this fabric up with my hand and then folding the first fold inward then working my way up towards the center. Once I have done this, I simply take one of the zip locks that was provided and I wrap it around and lock it in place. Don’t over-tighten it we just want to mark where we will be working.

What we are going to do now is fix the pleats on the bottom to make them orderly. Now we take the trim that is hanging from the middle from the back of the peg and wrap it around the bottom of the arm of the scroll.

So for this demonstration I have chosen sheers with just a bit of ruffle on the top and I slipped it onto the curtain rods. We already have the brackets up so we are going to go ahead and ask Hector to put it up.

Now that we’ve got everything up, it looks beautiful. So far so good. There are still some minor touches to be done. Now I’m going to go ahead and put up the holdback and then we will do the final touch ups.

So we are now doing the finishing touches which is simply putting up the holdbacks. Drapery holdbacks are usually mounted four feet from the floor.

Now the holdback is up. All we need to do is using the same technique simply working your fabric through to the top and rest it on the holdback.

Here we have completed a very extravagant window treatment. We hope that we were able to contribute to the quality of your life by showing you how to do this yourself.

Until next time, Galaxy-Design.
